Shimba Hills National Reserve

Shimba Hills National Reserve is a lush coastal safari destination located near Kenya’s Indian Ocean coastline, offering a refreshing contrast to the country’s typical savannah parks. It is one of the few remaining coastal rainforests in East Africa and is known for its rich biodiversity, dense greenery, rolling hills, and cool ocean breezes. The reserve is particularly famous for being home to the rare and endangered sable antelope, as well as elephants, buffalo, bushbucks, monkeys, and a variety of bird species. One of its main attractions is Sheldrick Falls, a scenic waterfall reached through guided forest walks that offer beautiful views and encounters with nature along the way. Visitors can enjoy game drives, guided nature walks, birdwatching, and picnics in a peaceful and less crowded environment. Its unique coastal forest ecosystem, rare wildlife, and proximity to Mombasa and the coast make Shimba Hills National Reserve a hidden gem for safari and nature lovers.
