Mount Kenya National Park

Mount Kenya National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Kenya’s most spectacular highland destinations, centered around Mount Kenya, the second-highest mountain in Africa at 5,199 meters. The park is known for its dramatic scenery, featuring snow-capped peaks, glaciers, alpine lakes, rugged cliffs, and lush montane forests that create a striking contrast of ecosystems. It is home to diverse wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, colobus monkeys, and a variety of antelope species, as well as unique high-altitude flora such as giant lobelias and groundsels. Mount Kenya offers excellent trekking and climbing opportunities, with popular routes leading to Point Lenana, the most accessible summit for hikers, while more technical climbs reach Batian and Nelion peaks. Visitors also enjoy birdwatching, forest walks, and scenic camping experiences within its peaceful wilderness. Its breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and adventure opportunities make Mount Kenya National Park one of Kenya’s most important natural attractions.
